Why would my motor need to be rebuilt?

The Pfankuch motor (styles SM & GP86 - PN 002800X) uses brushes. Like any motor, those brushes wear with use. If they are not replaced serious damage can result to a variety of components within the motor as well as the motor control board. Proper preventive maintenance will not only prevent that other damage, but will keep your motor running at peak efficiency so that it doesn't break down in the middle of a critical production run.

Why can't I just have it done locally?

Often customers take their Pfankuch motors to local repair shops. After getting the motor back they often notice that it doesn't run as it did before. Often to achieve the same belt speed they have to turn the speed control much higher. Not only does this retard output, but eventually it leads to damage of other components like the motor control board. This is because local shops are not equipped to return your motor to the original condition.

What does it cost and how long does it take?

We can rebuild your motor as part of a complete feeder reconditioning or as a single service. If you remove the motor from the feeder and send that as an individual component, normally the labor involved is just 2 hours, and typical parts (assuming the rotor and stator are in good condition) cost less than $100. Total cost for a typical rebuild, including return express shipping is approximately $300. Typical turnaround is same day if it is received by 10am (subject to current workload.)
