Training (Spanish & English)

Training: a critical component for your success.

Training may be a critical component for successful operation, but it is very often the one that is missing. Time and time again, companies rely on general experience among their operators and maintenance folks.

Packaging equipment used today is increasingly user friendly – but any machine, even inexpensive ones, are most efficient when the “ins and outs” are understood in a way a manual simply can’t convey.  It needs to be fine-tuned for the particular operation in which it is being placed.  Yes, it is natural to want to save the money that training costs, but in the long run, you pay more in lost time and production.  In fact, without the proper training, your new machine may only run at 60-70% of its designed efficiency.

The training staff at Fusion Concepts knows the equipment we sell, inside and out.  Though they will never be as expert at running your particular products as your operators, their breadth of experience and library of tips and tricks will complement your operators natural “know how.”  Our trainers are best suited to show your operators how to get the most out of your new equipment.  We can provide training to all your shifts and to all members of your staff, including operators, supervisors and maintenance personnel.

In addition, our training, which can be done at your site or at ours, covers all the important aspects of operation, changeover, PM and repair.  We also have the ability to provide training to members of your staff who speak mostly or only Spanish.

Concluding each training session, we recommend preparing a video of the key points covered (with your employees demonstrating and narrating) so if you have any questions later, or have changeover in staff, you have a handy review tool.  For added assurance, you also are provided with all the proper documentation from the manufacturer of the equipment.

Here are several examples of how training from Fusion Concepts helps customers with new, unfamiliar equipment:

Nothing lost in translation.

The new operator of this piece of packaging equipment was hired to replace a fired operator.  In the middle of the busy season he was suddenly facing two difficulties: one, he knew very little about the machine; and two, English was his second language, Spanish, his first.

Fusion Concepts sent a person who could assist in both areas.  The trainer, who speaks fluent Spanish, taught the person how to operate the equipment properly, with nothing lost in translation.  He did this by showing the operator how the machine could feed material automatically, instead of manually as he was doing prior to the training session.  Speaking Spanish also helped to put the operator at ease, ensuring that he could learn more about the piece of equipment, and therefore get more out of it.

The results?  After training, the equipment operates at peak efficiency.  The operator runs the machine with multiple automatic feeders, improving efficiency and saving on labor costs.  The owner of the company was so impressed at how fast and efficient the equipment could run that he purchased a second machine.

New equipment is not like old equipment.

A long time and very satisfied Pfankuch user added capacity and naturally added a new Pfankuch.  He presumed that since the basic operation was similar, the entire package was as well, and therefore elected not to have local training.   However, shortly after the new machine arrived, an operator inadvertently re-set the menu points and did not know how to get them back to their original settings.

When the trainer from Fusion Concepts arrived it took him only 45 minutes to re-set the menu points, and get the machine back on and running.  Next, he showed the operators how to set up and run the machine properly.  It did not take long for the customer to see that there were differences between operating the old machine and the new one and that failing to understand those differences would have substantially retarded their efficiency.

The session proved to the customer how important training is.  Proper training saved the company two to three days of lost production.  It also ensures them a piece of equipment that runs efficiently each and every day of operation.
