Shuttle Feeder

A common trend in friction feeder marketing recently has been to claim that the friction feeder will handle products up to 1" thick. A Pfankuch friction feeder will do so, just like any other feeder. In fact, Pfankuch offers a unique drive system ("KD") which minimizes changeover between products of different thicknesses. However, feeding pieces of approximately 3/8" thick with a friction feeder is not recommended.

Many companies suggest this not only to make their friction feeder appear particularly flexible, but also to mask the absence in their line of equipment of a machine truly designed to handle thicker pieces. Pfankuch has a machine for that purpose in its PSA Shuttle Feeder.

Using a kicker plate and vacuum assist the PSA feeder is the perfect machine for feeding perfect bound books and other thick items.

It can be equipped with a horizontal delivery for more accurate direction of the discharged piece, and of course as the thickness of the product means that the hopper will be quickly depleted, Pfankuch's Autoloaders are key options to be incorporated with any shuttle feeder application.
