Pfankuch Friction Feeders
Speeds
As fast as any friction feeder in the world, Pfankuch's ASB friction feeders are available with two drive options for different outputs depending on application requirements.
A stepper motor driven standard speed feeder provides a belt speed of approximately 115M/min. The servo driven high speed version runs at greater than 160M/min.
An additional version of the high speed feeder, designed for precisions placement tipping and placing is also available.
How do I evaluate feeder speed?
One of the hardest elements of comparing friction feeders, and selecting one for an application, is evaluating the speed.
Sales literature often list a feed rate for continuous stream feeding. Except for limited applications (e.g. feeding product under an ink-jet head) this is a meaningless number. A cycle rate is far more important, and must take into account the size of the product, pitch space or repeat distance, line speed, number of pieces/cycle, dwell time, etc.
Testing samples is critical as well. Although unusual, periodically a product behaves in unpredictable ways when it is run at high speed.
