Pfankuch Friction Feeders

Friction Deliveries :: Batching Delivery Options

Every Pfankuch feeder is delivered with batch count capability. Not only can every feeder count, using a single cell miss & double detect system, but an internal encoder even learns and checks for attributes common to each product (e.g. filled paper common in security printing or the portion of envelopes where 5 layers overlap) to ensure that an accurate count is achieved every time.

But as a batch is counted it can be handled in a variety of different ways. The most flexible is to use a horizontal delivery feeder and batch product onto a shelf in an infeed where it awaits a flight pin to strip it off. In certain cases however, the time during which the flight pin passes in front of the feeder is critical to achieving complete counts. In those situations Pfankuch offers two batching delivery options.

The fastest is the "Batch Drop" which uses electromagnetically operated "bomb bay doors" which support product from the left and right. When the feeder completes the count it awaits the trigger signal which opens the batch drop. As soon as the doors close the feeders initiates the next count. This mechanism is perfect for relatively rigid items.

For sheets of paper, which would droop and fall if only held from the sides, the "Drop Table" is the solution. Using fingers which support the sheets over their entire width, the drop table retracts back under the feeder when triggered, dropping the paper at the signal.
